Welding/Fabrication Technologies

Overview

Welding is a critical process that involves joining similar metals using a high-intensity electric arc, which melts and fuses the base metals. Often, a filler metal is melted along with the base metal to strengthen the joint, resulting in a finished product that is as strong as, or even stronger than, the original metals. Qualified welders are in high demand worldwide, with tasks ranging from heavy construction and joining pipe sections for oil and natural gas pipelines to shipbuilding and working in various industrial environments, such as power plants, refineries, chemical plants, and manufacturing facilities. The high demand for skilled welders, combined with the challenging working conditions and specialized skill requirements, often leads to above-average to excellent earnings in the field.

Program Highlights

  • Curriculum:
    • Techniques for heavy construction welding
    • Joining pipe sections for oil and natural gas pipelines
