The Teacher Academy for K-12

Overview

The Teacher Academy K–12 program helps students who want to become teachers or work in schools. Students learn what it’s really like to be a teacher and why teachers are important. The program teaches basic skills for working in education and helps students decide if this is the right path for them. Students take classes and get real-life experience in schools to better understand how teaching works. This program can lead to jobs like classroom aide, preschool teacher, or school counselor, and also prepares students to go to college to become a certified teacher.

Hands-On Experience

Students take part in both classroom learning and fieldwork in real school settings. They learn how to support students from all backgrounds and how to meet different learning needs. Students may also earn college credit through special dual enrollment classes.

Certification

Students in this program may earn:

  • Adult CPR/First Aid
  • ParaPro Certification
  • Praxis Core (basic teacher skills test)

Earning Potential Range:

Students in this field can earn between $13.25 and $17 per hour, with more pay possible for those with a two- or four-year degree.
