Carpentry
Overview
Carpentry remains one of the most respected and essential trades in the construction industry. Today’s carpenters must be adept at working with a variety of materials, including wood, aluminum, steel, vinyl, synthetics, and composite materials. Carpenters play a crucial role in constructing and renovating buildings where people live, work, and play. They are responsible for laying out, cutting, fitting, fastening, and erecting superstructures, partitions, and floors. Additionally, carpenters fit and install doors, windows, moldings, cabinets, and stairways. Mastery of hand tools, power tools, and portable equipment is essential for success in this field. The physical demands of carpentry make it a career well-suited for individuals who are active, creative, and enjoy building. Advanced placement in the Trade Apprenticeship Program is available for qualified graduates through Tech Prep.
