Medical Assisting
Overview
The Medical Assisting program teaches students the skills they need to work in doctors’ offices, clinics, and other healthcare places. Students learn how to help doctors by getting patients ready for check-ups and procedures. They also learn how to take blood samples and work in labs.
All students practice skills like using a microscope, taking heart readings (EKGs), and doing basic tests like urinalysis. The program also covers how to run a medical office — answering phones, scheduling appointments, entering data, and keeping records.
Students learn important topics like medical words, how the body works, patient privacy, and how to act professionally. A big part of the program is learning how to be friendly, helpful, and calm when working with patients and healthcare teams.
