Mental Health, SEL, and Trauma Informed Resources

At New Castle County Vocational Technical School District (NCCVT), we believe students succeed when their mental health, emotional well-being, and social-emotional learning (SEL) are supported alongside their academic and career development.

High school is a time of growth and self-discovery, but it can also bring challenges. While ups and downs are a normal part of adolescence, students don’t have to navigate them alone. Staff members are available in every building to provide guidance, encouragement, and support.

  • School Counselors: Certified/licensed educators who improve student success for ALL students by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program to meet students’ needs across academic, social and emotional, and career/post-secondary domains.
  • School Psychologists: Uniquely qualified members of school teams that support students' ability to learn and teachers' ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior, to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally.
  • School-Based Health/Wellness Centers: Wellness Centers provide a range of services, including counseling, health services, and more.
  • Sean’s Room: Presently available at St. Georges Technical High School

Each school also has a School-Based Wellness Center that offers additional services to support students’ overall well-being so they can stay focused and engaged in school. To access Wellness Center services, a parent or guardian must complete and sign a permission form.

In NCCVT, we are committed to supporting the whole student, because when students feel well, they learn well.
