Interested parents and students are invited to visit Howard, Delcastle, Hodgson, and St. Georges high schools Sunday afternoon, November 16, for the annual Open House. Howard and Delcastle will be open from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m., Hodgson and St. Georges will be open from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The annual Open House gives prospective students and their parents the chance to see NCC Vo-Tech high schools in action.  Governor Appoints New Vo-Tech School Board Member

Mark Stellini, former president of Delaware-based technology consulting and services company, Info Systems, Inc., and a current member of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, has been appointed by Gov. Ruth Ann Minner to serve a seven-year term on the New Castle County Vocational Technical School District Board of Education. Stellini, 50, fills the seat previously held by Terrence M. Shannon, of Hockessin, whose term expired June 30.

Superintendent Steven H. Godowsky said he and the district administration look forward to the expertise Stellini will bring to the seven-member board. "Mark brings significant experience to our board from business, especially in the technology field. He is a high energy person, which is contagious," Godowsky said. "I look forward to working with Mark during his term."

Stellini joined Info Systems, Inc., his family's business, in 1981, and spent 20 years growing the company to a $90 million dollar market mix of technology consulting services and strategic information technology products. In 1991, IBM recognized Info Systems with the Shooting Star Award for Excellence in Customer Satisfaction, a national accolade. That same year, Stellini received the U.S. Small Business Administration's Business Person of the Year Award, and later won its Entrepreneurial Success of the Year Award.

Stellini currently chairs the state chamber's Partnership for Education Council that sponsors the successful Principal for a Day program. "I am very thankful Governor Minner considered me for this position," Stellini said. "There is a distinct correlation between workforce development and the NCC Vo-Tech School District. Through the Delaware State Chamber's Partnership for Education, I've had the opportunity to serve as ‘Principal for a Day' in all of the vo-tech high schools in the State. I've seen firsthand the value that vocational technical education delivers. It will be an honor to serve as a school board member in a district that helps deliver a skilled workforce for Delaware's economic growth," he said.

It's a great start to the 2008-2009 school year!
Student enrollment has increased by 274 from 4105 last year to 4379
this year with the addition of another grade level at
St. Georges Technical High School.

 Hire a Co-Op Student

Co-operative Education is the cap-stone experience for 12th grade students in NCC Vo-Tech high schools. It provides students an opportunity to put their vocational training to work in paid placements at hundreds of Delaware businesses during the school day. The program enables students to continue their learning through on-the-job experiences, helping to make a smooth transition from school to fulltime, productive employment. Students who have demonstrated proficiency in their career skills are seeking half-day paid placements or two-weeks, full-time/two-weeks, in-school rotations.
